Emulo ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Emulo mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App.

1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Account information — display name, username, email address, bio, and city when you create an account
  • Profile photo — if you upload an avatar
  • Match data — scores, results, and match details you submit
  • Messages — challenge messages, match comments
  • Support requests — when you contact us

Information Collected Automatically

  • Device information — device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers
  • Push notification tokens — to send you notifications via OneSignal
  • Location data — approximate location (only when you grant permission) to find nearby courts and players. We do not track your location in the background.
  • Usage data — features used, screens viewed, and interaction patterns to improve the App

Information from Third Parties

  • Apple Sign In / Google Sign In — we receive your name and email address (or a relay email for Apple) when you authenticate. We do not receive or store your password.
  • RevenueCat — subscription status and purchase history

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Create and manage your account
  • Calculate and display your skill rating, tier, and leaderboard position
  • Process and display match results
  • Send push notifications for match updates, challenges, achievements, and reminders
  • Find nearby courts and opponents when location permission is granted
  • Process subscriptions and in-app purchases
  • Detect and prevent fraud, rating manipulation, and abuse
  • Provide customer support
  • Improve and optimize the App
  • Comply with legal obligations

3. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only with the following service providers who process data on our behalf:

  • Supabase (database hosting, authentication) — stores your account and match data
  • Amazon Web Services (API hosting) — processes API requests
  • OneSignal (push notifications) — receives device tokens and notification content
  • RevenueCat (subscription management) — processes subscription status
  • Apple / Google (authentication, payments) — processes sign-in and purchases
  • OpenStreetMap / Nominatim (venue search) — receives search queries for court lookup

We may also disclose your information if required by law, court order, or governmental regulation, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or others.

4. Public Information

The following information is visible to other Emulo users:

  • Display name, username, and avatar
  • Rating, tier, and match statistics
  • Match results and scores
  • Achievement badges
  • City (if provided)

Your email address is never publicly visible.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. Match history and rating data are retained to maintain the integrity of the ranking system. When you delete your account, we permanently remove all your personal data, match records, ratings, and profile information within 30 days.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correction — update or correct your information via the Edit Profile screen
  • Deletion — delete your account and all associated data from Settings > Delete Account
  • Opt out of notifications — disable push notifications in your device settings or within the App
  • Withdraw consent — revoke location permissions in your device settings at any time

7. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to: know what personal information we collect, request deletion of your personal information, and opt out of the sale of your personal information (we do not sell your data). To exercise these rights, contact us at the email above.

8. International Data Transfers

Your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where our servers are located. By using the App, you consent to this transfer. We take appropriate safeguards to protect your data in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

9. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:

  • All data transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS/HTTPS)
  • Authentication tokens stored in iOS Keychain (encrypted at rest)
  • Row-level security policies on our database
  • Avatar images moderated for inappropriate content
  • Rate limiting on all API endpoints

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data.

10. Children's Privacy

Emulo is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. Third-Party Links

The App may contain links to third-party websites or services (e.g., Apple Maps for court navigation). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy in the App and on our website, and updating the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
